transplanted jalapenos

I recently transplanted 2 jalapeno plants from walmart. I had the 3 weeks befor moving them to bigger pots. They both had 1 pepper growing and one had a few flowers and were only 4 inches tall.

Should I pick the peppers and flowers to allow for more root/height growth?

Or will they be ok. the largest peper is only 2 inches or so and curled at the end and is turning black. From what I read here the black color isn't a problem BUT>>?? is fruit this early in the gowing period going to stunt the growth?

IMO just giving the roots room to spread is all that was needed. The roots will grow so quickly and the top growth should litterally explode. Personally, I would never waste the fruit and blooms that are already on the plant.
