Tomatillos
First time growing these and am out of space in the main garden and no more room for containers either. I do have a poor, dry sany location that is unused. With irrigation, will tomatillos have a fair chance of growing and producing fruit in such a bad spot? How big do the plants get? Is their culture similar to that of a tomato plant? Do the plants need to grow in cages or can the sprawl or are they self supporting?

in fertile soil they can get big, not as bushy as tomatoes. more of a sprawling type plant. ours get to about 8 ft on our trellising.
in decent soil they should do ok and give you fruit with some water. they would do good with a top dressing of some compost and mulch that really well around the plant.

my tomatillo is about 3 1/2 feet tall right now but not producing fruit.
I did some research and found tomatillo require 2 plants to cross pollinate.
so I went and got another one and now I have little fruits on both of my plants
I'm growing mine like a tomato plant.
I cant wait to make some salsa verde and green enchilada sauce!!!! yummm
