Is this an Onion?

Is this an Onion plant or a Chive? My grandma gave it to me last year and I planted it into my garden in late June. I am not sure if there is a difference between onion and chive.. I believe she said it was chives.. What do I do with it?

Okay, Thanks! So.. what do I do with a chive? Do I use the leaves? Is there something to dig up?

----------------

Nevermind! I found some stuff on wikipedia about chives..

New question. Wikipedia said to freeze the leaves.. can they be dehydrated instead? Will they have less flavor if you do? I have a dehydrator that I just got this spring.. I'm planning to use it on some of my other herbs.

binkalette,

Yes, that is a nice clump of chives. Do not dig up unless you are dividing and sending some to me  :D

Harvest the leaves and flowers. Chop for salads. Sprinkle on baked potatoes. Add to soups.

Yummy
