Companion planting

I can't find anything on companions or deterrents to peppers, hot or sweet - last year the hot peppers grew well with carrots and beets, the sweet with lettuce and other greens. After 2 years in the same soil, I need the peppers in a different bed - will they be happy with garlic and onions? Since this is my first year of successfully starting peppers from seed, I don't want to lose production from 18 beautiful plants!

I read that they like onions and basil.

I have this printed up and kept along with my gardening books. Love it, I am using this method this year.

Garlic and onions are good companions for most plants, help keep pests and diseases away.
