When to Replant my Pepper Seedlings

Hello everyone,

I'm new to peppers and I planted some seeds in a egg carten thing and they have sprouted I was just wondering when I'm supose to replant them. One is about 1 1/2 in' tall.

Thanks

I would let the first true leaves grow out a bit before transplanting

In an egg carton, I would transplant them, as soon as, I could get ahold of the seedleaf to hold them.
There just couldn't be enough soil to feed or hold water for them.

As soon as I can get hold of plants I transplant them, and most of them double in size almost overnight. So, transplanting does seem to encourage them to get a move on!

I will say this - most peppers come from arid or semi-arid climates originally, so the roots will DIVE for whatever water they can find.

For this reason, a fairly tall pot is best if they have to be indoors for any length of time, else the roots hit the bottom of the pot and coil around.

Be sure it is plenty warm enough for them outside before hardening them off - peppers are very temperature sensitive as a rule.
