Spring has sprung

Main bed area: kale, garlic, day lilies growing gangbusters.

Close up of one bed of greens. Picked two large batches this week, and could easily pick another two or three this week from our five or six small beds.

Garlic is doing well. Most is about 14 inches tall.

Strawberry plants are beginning to bloom.

Pear trees, cherry trees, blue berry bushes are all in bloom. Lettuce, arugula, radishes, spinach, carrots are all up and growing.

That looks great, Alex.

You are making us all turn green with envy!

Oh a fresh salad, or something from the garden, no more grocery store pale foods... wow..

Eat a bite and think of all of us!

I am smiling big time at all that green because it is still too cold here for anything to grow. The garlic hasn't even came up yet. Nice going!

Looking GREAT! Far cry from my haphazard garden

I'm looking at your large arbor/trellis structure with envy. 8) Are you growing anything on that? I seem to remember you tied some of your bigger tomatoes to the uprights in the past? If I had one, this year, I would use it to grow all my hanging-type gourds -- birdhouse, large spoon, and luffa. As it is, my BIL just got me a bunch of threaded metal electrical conduits and connectors -- will have to come up with a plan.

Things are starting to get leaves here, but no one has really started their gardens yet.
I'm jealous! You have such a beautiful, large, and organized garden! :)

Very nice growth so far this year!

Do you grow them outdoors all year round, or transplant from a greenhouse/within the house?

Cole crops and garlic continue to grow throughout the winter here is zone 8. During the coldest periods growth comes almost to a stand still, but with a two week warm period, we are havesting fresh batches of kale, collards, and arugula.

Our support, which is pretty rough and not much to look at, is used mostly for giving a little western shade and is also used to support a few tomato plants. I may run some cucumbers up the frame in the future. There year's agenda includes ripping down the current structure to replace with one that is more solidly constructed and which will hopefully be a bit more attractive.
