Very nice! My tomatoes are just getting their second set of leaves at the moment. You must be able to plant outside much earlier than I can. It all looks just great.

Keep us posted on how the carrots make out.

I am thinking 2 weeks for tomatoes if I don't get a hair up my butt and plant a few next week.

As far as the carrots I was going to plant yesterday and I should have, I didn't cause they were calling for severe thunderstorms and didn't want the seed to wash away. But it was a fairly steady but gentle rain that would have been perfect. I have never done very well with carrots but will try again, if it wasn't insects they just got very forked and very small. If I don't work tomorrow I will be planting carrots and some other cool stuff. I will definitely be back eventually on the carrot development, hopefully it will be good news.

... might mean root knot nematodes. Perhaps with the good soil biology you're building, there'll be plenty of predatory nematodes to make better use out of them.

Quite possible but to be honest I think it was just junky soil, too much clay and too many rocks.

SHRXTC when am I going to plant the rest? At the first available time that's when.

Excellent start!

I too hope to have "too many tomato plants" as well, LOL.

Thinking of growing all my jalapenos with/around my tomatoes this year. Supposedly the peppers will heat up the toms, but we'll see I guess.

Hi Andrew, Welcome to the forum. I've never heard about peppers "heating up tomatoes". Let us know how it goes.

Ted
Thank you for the welcome.

I've only hear "rumors" and have never had a "hot tom" before, but I'll definitely give it a shot. My better half requested nothing "hot/spicey" in the main garden so I'll try to grow 3-4 jalapenos with one normal tomato plant within a 5 gallon bucket to see how it goes. I'll report back with progress and a salsa taste critique once they've been harvested. I'll also be growin' a non-"hot tom" plant as well for comparison.

I know I'm very excited about the possibility, but don't hold out extreme hope :).

Good luck you are on your way. Keep us posted about your progress especially with the carrots. I have often thought about transplanting them. John

JB will do. I put in a row of transplant carrots a row of transplant onions than rows of alternating carrot and onion seed. Kinda an experiment though of course I'm looking for a harvestable crop of course.

it was a busy day I did that and seeded some spinach, potatoes more onion sets. Oh yeah I also threw in 2 tomatoes with some basil and borage intermixed with them.

I think I'm done with the cool crops waiting to get the summer crops going, oh wait I just did with the tomatoes.
