Ice cubes work good and they are easy. Once the plants come up you need to water from the bottom or place the ice cube off to the side so it does not get the stem wet. If you plant in large pots and plant only 1 seed then you can place the ice cube off to the side while it melts. As the ice cube melts it melts so slow it only gets the soil wet where the ice cube is setting. This also works good to water house plants.

These seeds have to stay in the refrigerator to simulate winter for 3 months or they won't sprout. The thermometer says the temperature is 30 deg F. If it is 20 deg F outside the temperature in the garage is about 35 then the temp in the frig is 30 deg F. If it warms up to 73 deg F like it did yesterday temp in the frig is still 30 deg F. I have it set to stay cold.

When I was, well quite a bit younger then I am now, I did I science project in biology where I tested out watering plants with different temperatures to see if there was any affect on the germination/growth.
Not surprisingly those watered with boiling water never did anything...
but to the best of my recollection there was no difference between the 0C (freezing) and 25C (room temp) watered plants
