Raised bed question

Greetings all,
I am putting rasied beds in my garden area this year. They will be 4'x8' is it best to run them north/south or east/west? or does it matter?

I'd run them north/south. That way, if you have taller plants at one end or the other, they won't shade other plants. But I'm not really sure it really matters that much.
