Salsola soda

Sun Jan 24, 2010 6:18 pm

Has anyone grown this plant successfully? It is hands down the most interesting, tasty green I have ever eaten.

In Rome it is called Barbara dei fratti. Here it is called soda. Capable of growing with or without saltwater irrigation, and it seems to me, a candidate for remediation of de-icing salt damage. Turns soil NaCl into sodium carbonate (I think). Formerly a vital part of quality glass making.
