Vegetable Bed for Summer

I will definitely be making a vegetable bed this summer. I am looking for some vegetables and fruits that are in high demand in the States. I've come up with a list that I think is mediocre. Here it is:
  • Tomatoes
  • Red Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Peas
  • Romaine Lettuce (?)
  • Onions
  • Carrots
Any additions/takeaways?

Where do you live?

Second cynthia's question... we can't make recommendations without knowing where you live (ie what zone you are gardening in) and also do you have a full sun area for growing veggies in.

"In high demand in the States" Does that mean you want to grow for market? And that you are not in the States yourself, therefore will be shipping things?

All this makes a difference... If you are growing to sell and want to make a profit, then you need high productivity and if you have to ship it, you need things that keep well and aren't too delicate.

Oh yes, sorry. I live in Southern Jersey, which I believe is zone 6b.
I will be growing some of these for market for my little brother. He is an entrepreneur and I wish to aid him in his work. I would not be shipping the vegetables.
