Walla Walla Sweet onions

We harvested our onions the other day. The onions are Walla Walla Sweets, they are a large and sweet onion. You can cut them up with no tears and eat them raw like candy; they make the best onion rings. We got a good crop and here is an example of the size of them.

Those things are huge. When did you plant them?

tom,

I'm not familiar with the walla walla. It looks like a yellow Spanish onion. I grow the Texas A&M 1015 sweet white onion which is planted in January and harvested in mid June to early July. The 1015, Vidalia, and Maui sweet onions are all derivatives of the granix onion. I can't believe you are harvesting onions this late in the season. They look great.

Those onions look great. I tried spanish, walla walla and something called a candy onion. None of them got even half the size of yours  I think I planted too late and dug up too soon. I'll try earlier next year and hope for better results
