Normal pepper color change?

This is my first garden and I am wondering if this dark coloring on my peppers is the normal color change from maturing or if they need something. I had multiple kinds of peppers (purple/red......it was a carnival mix so I don't know what to expect).

Is this what normal color change looks like?

I have also noticed this on my jalapenos.

I'd really appreciate some help identifying if this is a problem or normal.

Thanks!

I've seen that before. I think it was the year I had a calcium deficiency. I don't think it's a normal color change, which was what I thought it was at first, but I could be wrong. Because my growing season is so short, the only peppers I leave on the plant long enough to change colors are my hot cherry peppers. They turn evenly brown before they go to red.
