Overgrown Dill?

I left for vacation 4 days ago and my dill was about 6", and delicious! I came back and it's grown 12"! Will the excess growth affect the taste at all? At what point will it?

It's just starting to flower :) we must have had some nice weather here!

You can use dill at any point in its development. All parts of the plant has the flavor and aroma of dill. Even when the seed is ripe and ready to fall, the whole plant including the seed has the flavor and aroma. It is not unusual for dill to get 3 feet tall or taller on good soil. Sounds like yours is half grown.

Thanks! :) Guess I'm worrying about nothing. It does smell beautiful in my garden, I love dill.

How do I collect the dill seeds?
(I know you can also use these for cooking & I'd like to save some for next year unless they will come back on their own).

Collect dill seed? I wait until the seed is well developed, but not quite ready to fall off the plant, then just clip the head and put it in a cardboard box. I let it dry for a while then the seed will come off with a shake.

That sounds easy enough - thanks I'll make a note in my gardening book :)
