cuccumber stem rot

Can anyone help me on stem rot? I have now lost 3 established cuccumber plants. The plants seem dwarfed in size, but healthy looking. it comes on quick. The stem at ground level dries up and the plants die. Thanks for your help.

Stem rot can have any of a number of different causes ... Sclerotinia (white mold), penicillium, anthracnose, to name just a few. Do you know if the disease your plants suffered was from a fungus, or something else?

Crop rotation is the best preventative, I think. I understand that cucumbers should not be planted where green beans, squash, or tomatoes were grown the previous year.

Keeping the garden area free of weeds that can harbor insects that transmit bacterial and viral diseases helps a lot, too.

Do you have photographs of the disease that killed your plants? If you post them here, perhaps one of the more experienced members can offer some advice. :)
