While inspecting my Kentucky Wonder Beans the other day I found this:

It is shaped like a grasshopper but I have never seen this one before! I live in Central Florida (zone 9) anybody know what I have?

Zone9 - no idea honey - just glad we haven't seen anything like that here in England.

However, who is to say he is not a good guy

Thanks for the welcome! And it would be awesome if it were a beneficial insect; I think it is neat looking! Well here is to hope!

I thought the insect had the look of being the nymph stage. A quick search located this katydid nymph that looks similar. I've seen a green form of hopper that looks similar to your orange one.

While none of those look exactly the same, they are VERY similar... You may be on to something... I think it may be a katydid type nymph... I will keep looking!

This image from bug guide looks very similar. Is almost certainly of the genus scudderia.

Interesting comment from the site:
" it's more red than the ones we usually see, but the pattern and banded antennae both fit. We have a whole section for these Scudderia nymphs in the guide, as apparently they can't be identified beyond genus at this stage."

I have seen those cute little bugs before. I have no idea what they are.
