Slugs, slugs, everywhere...

Well, maybe not *everywhere,* but for whatever reason, my lawn seems to attract lots of slugs, and they move faster than their name suggests.

I don't even want to necessarily harm the little guys, but they are hindering more than helping the couple of vegetable plants I've grown (tomatoes and green peppers, and I want to plant some peonies and dahlias as well). Anyone have any organic solutions to the problem?

Yes, you *do* want to harm the little guys. They will EAT your plants down to nubs.

I just did a Search using the feature on the upper left-hand side of almost every page in the Forum. Here are the first five (out of 10 pages or more) hits:

1) SLUGS!!!

2) How do you deter slugs organically?

3) The slugs are mocking me

4) Will lights at night inhibit slugs?

5) What is the cheapest, most natural way to keep slugs out?

Good luck in your campaign vs. the slugs.

Thanks very much, hugely helpful and appreciated! Those tomatoes and peppers are mine! Silly slugs.

!potatoes!, I hope you made those slugs PAY  for what they did to your plants...

you mean what they keep doing to my plants? if only there was something more pre-emptive than vengeance...

I noticed today that (of the five varieties of potato I'm testing out) the russian banana fingerlings (in the pic above) are taking the brunt of the slug damage; blues, russets, and reds are mostly getting moderate damage; and the yukon golds haven't been touched. interesting.
