So I was just outside in my garden.... checking up on everybody and Im looking at 1 out of 3 strawberry plants and I notice some red sticking out of the dirt. I move the dirt away and its a huge strawberry! My plants have been producing little mini strawberries but this one is easily 4 times that size. What made it get so large? Did I accidently bury it when I was planting them? I was so surprised...Im still wondering how that happened. Its like strawberry on steroids!
Its hard to tell how big they really are but the little green one is about the size that my strawberries have been growing. I would say maybe a little smaller than a bottle cap...if thats comparable.
That's a beauty! My plants are only a few years old. Most of them have berries the size of the green one, but every now and then we get a big plump bugger like yours there. Last year we weren't watchful and some slugs gobbled up a few of the juicy ones. It's eggshells for them this year! We'll see how they like that...
