strange strawberry discovery

So I was just outside in my garden.... checking up on everybody and Im looking at 1 out of 3 strawberry plants and I notice some red sticking out of the dirt. I move the dirt away and its a huge strawberry! My plants have been producing little mini strawberries but this one is easily 4 times that size. What made it get so large? Did I accidently bury it when I was planting them? I was so surprised...Im still wondering how that happened. Its like strawberry on steroids! :>

Its hard to tell how big they really are but the little green one is about the size that my strawberries have been growing. I would say maybe a little smaller than a bottle cap...if thats comparable.

That's a beauty! My plants are only a few years old. Most of them have berries the size of the green one, but every now and then we get a big plump bugger like yours there. Last year we weren't watchful and some slugs gobbled up a few of the juicy ones. It's eggshells for them this year! We'll see how they like that...
