Artichoke sprouts

When is it best to transfer these little guys? They are about 2-3inches now. I don't have room in my fenced in garden so I'm going to plant them next to it. I still have to prepare the soil. Anything I should know? These are Emerald Artichokes...the packing says they are thornless...I'm not sure if this is good or bad...my dog better KEEP OUT! :oP

id split them up and put them in their own separate pot for now, they will get fairly large.
maybe wait till they get their first few sets of true leaves,, snails and worms love the young plants,,, also earwigs,, plant them in full sun if you have it,.
