How is your vegetable garden doing?

Mine is doing very well this year. Here are a few photos.

These row of tomatoes, planted at different times, and with different sized transplants. All are planted at a new site that is very, very sandy. Soil was only augmented a bit, but did include some lime and a natural concoction of meals.

Earliest row, planted around April 22.

Second row planted about a week later, but mostly with larger transplants.

Most recent row, planted last week.

Looking great, Alex. You must have 2 green thumbs. lol. my plants are looking good. The tomatoes have some small tomatoes on them. The squash looks like it wants to flower any day now. We picked a cabbage this morning.Going to have it for supper. Waiting for that rain they say we are going to get this weekend.
Happy gardening. Julie

Loving those tomatoes! :D

I have 4 bush beans (tendergreen improved), 2 tomatoes (goliath hybrids), 1 carrot (more of an experiment than anything...I planted one that had been in the fridge too long  ), and 8 banana peppers.

First, the bush beans. To say they are under-producing is an understatement. When I was a boy and my parents grew these, I remember there being a LOT more beans producing per plant. At any given time I only have 3 or 4 beans sprouting max. Some plants have 1 or 2  Am I doing something wrong?

The tomatoes are still in their containers and are getting huge. I've been procrastinating about transplanting/wire caging them. I'm actually gonna see if I can get it done today.

The carrot...well, its doing far better than I expected. It's big and beautiful. I know nothing about growing carrots....how long do I have before I have to pull them out of the ground? How many carrots does one plant produce?

The banana peppers...well, I started out with about 3 dozen and for various negligent reasons most perished  The 8 I was able to save are growing splendidly in various containers in the house.

I am planting some bell peppers in containers soon...that should be fun! Overall, I'm very pleased with how this first garden experience is going. Not going as well as I'd hoped....but still rewarding :D

Take care and let hear any thoughts you have!

carrots plants produce 1 carrot, that's why they're grown from seed. they're biennial, so the one root you planted will probably try to flower if it gets established enough - it may get pretty woody, too. good experiment, though, I'd like to see the flowers, should be a lot like a queen anne's lace.

hahahaha....I figured as much  but yes, I still get satisfaction out of it. I love that about gardening. For me, even if things go terribly terribly wrong (to the tune of losing 10 sweet banana pepper seedlings to neglect  ) I still get immense satisfaction from it.
