Grass clippings as mulch?

Have I read correct that you can use grass clippings as mulch? I have saved some of my dead grass for two weeks now and need to do something to help keep moisture in due to high temps down here lately.Any advice would be great. Thanks

Yes, you can, provided that the grass wasn't recently treated with pesticides (esp. dicamba). There's more information at this Univ. of Illinois site:

Thanks again cynthia,I have only treated for bugs w/ granules about a month ago so that has already washed through.I guess I will cover all my pots with dead grass tommorrow and water real good.Thanks again
