Invaders on plant leaves

I noticed something has eaten some of my cabbage and bush bean leaves. I checked for slugs and haven't found any. Not much damage yet before but it gets too bad does anyone know what it might be and what to do to prevent it :?:

When did you check for the slugs? They're very elusive. They LOVE bush beans as well as cabbage leaves -- mine are nothing more than tattered lace, and they're the first things I check when I'm out slug hunting -- usually at dusk and twilight but you do get more after full dark (take a flashlight). They also like to hide on the bottom of pots and under citrus skins.

I have been checking at dusk but maybe I should check alittle later. Thanks applestar :!:
