My zucchini plants are just starting to bear fruit when the leaves on the largest plant started to turn brown. The other plants seem to be doing fine.
I have checked for squash vine borers and I give them miracle grow once a week as instructed. Several of the leaves look as if something has been eating them. I have noticed some of those little green fruit flies on the plants but I have been spraying sevendust once every two weeks to keep the flies under control.
We have had a lot of rain lately in Houston so I haven't been watering them that much.
I have included some pictures, if anyone has an idea what's going on, your help would be appreciated.

I have read on the internet that, leaves that turn brown around the edges, means the plant has had some environmental stress, and more than likely has a root problem. Your raised beds may not be filled with enough dirt. Did you till the area your raised beds lye over, or is there grass underneath? If you didn't till the area underneath the raised beds, the roots may be having some trouble penetrating through the grass. Could be a long shot, but you never know.

To me, these leaves look like powdery mildew damage. I use alternating applications of diluted milk spray and compost tea spray or watering can drench. I've no idea if the chemical fertilizer and sevin schedule is -- uh -- OK. Sevin is pretty nasty stuff. There's a sticky at the top of the Organic Gardening forum. You might want to take a look.

Sorry for the hijack of this thread but I keep hearing about this milk spray thing. What is it just water and regular store bought milk mixed. And how does this do what it does. I am very analytical. I need to know why and how something works not just do this and this will happen.applestar wrote:To me, these leaves look like powdery mildew damage. Hi everyone, I'm a 3rd year beginner gardener. Do I have the same thing? most of the leaves on my zuke plants are yellowing on the edges but they are not wilting. I checked the trunk and it looks great, no signs of svb. The leaves aren't growing as large as they should, mostly staying a little larger than my hand. I'm getting very little fruit and some of the flower buds are drying up, too. I planted seeds that were from last years packet.
