Mushrooms in my garden...

Hello!

We have 2 raised gardens on the side of our house and noticed we have lots of mushrooms growing in the dirt. Are mushrooms good for the soil? If not how do I get rid of them?

thanks for your time.

Mushrooms won't hurt anything. When it gets warmer they will go away, they like temperature about 55 to 65 deg F and rain.

mushroom mycelium can help a garden...paul stamets and his fungi perfecti company sell a number of edible mushrooms intended for garden use - they thrive by turning mulch material into plant-accessible nutrients, and do good stuff for soil structure, too - it's win/win. don't know if there are soil mushroom varieties this is less true of.
