Here's something I've been wondering about. Is it possible to harvest seeds from ornamental gourds from a farmer's market or grocery store and grow similar gourds from the seeds the next season?
For one, do they sprout? For two, do you get similar gourds to the one you started with?? Has anyone tried this?
Thanks.

You would probably get plants, but whether or not they were "true" to the parent plant would depend on whether they were hybrids or not.
If the purchased gourd was a hybrid, its seeds would give a plant more similar to, if not exactly the same as, a parent or even grandparent plant.
If you ask the farmer/market gardener about the plant, phrase it as a light-hearted garden experiment. Something like, "If I were to try and sprout these seeds for plants, what would the plants end up like?" or similar.
