Bitter Turnip Greens

I am growing Turnip Greens. When I cooked them, they were really bitter  . I have heard that they are better after they get a little frost. So does this mean that I should let them grow and grow until frost then harvest?

Mature turnips tend to have bitter greens. The greens are sweeter when the root is still very small. I have heard that it helps to add 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the water you cook the greens in, and then rinse the greens 3 times. I haven't tried that method myself, however.

Yeah those turnips seem to do better in the cooler weather. I know mine have really perked up pretty and green since it's been a little cooler at night. As far as them being bitter, my grandmother always cooks hers with a little sugar added. I'll have to ask her how much she adds.
