first year with them. had them pretty early and I am now seeing nice little sprouts developing in the "armpit" (as my kids refer to it) between the stalk and each leaf shoot. it is currently mid August.
what do I do now folks? do I not touch them and just let them go or do I start removing some of those leaves to give those sprouts more room to grow or is that the wrong thing to grow? (and if so, how far up do I remove those leaves?)
when do I harvest? I have heard that you don't touch them until after the first hard frost? is that true?

This is my first year growing Sprouts as well. I have three plants that went in the ground at the same time, they are all close in size.
I do believe that they could use a bit more sun, so next season they will get a new location in the garden.
I'm hoping for a nice harvest and I'd be interested to know how other folks are doing.

I made the mistake on throwing all 100 seeds in thinking that nothing was going to happen, but it seems that my compost is working better than I thought it would and every single one came up.

So I had to move them around the garden. It was a lucky streak that I was cleaning out the flower beds for summer and I had some space, otherwise I would have been in trouble.
If you note, I did the same with the onions/ lettuce as well. Oh man I'm going to be eating healthy in a month or so.

original poster here.... a few weeks later and my sprouts are growing nicely. they are getting hit hard by some nasty bugs though. anybody have a clue what they are? black, about the size of a pencil eraser. have yellow and white markings.
I would love to know a way to get rid of the buggies and save my spouts. (I have some bacon and red onion waiting in the wings and I can't wait to eat them.)
