Is there a way to keep rabbits away from papper plants without harming the rabbits?
I don't have a single leaf on any of my pepper plants anymore. They are simply green sticks! I don't absolute proof that it's the young rabbits that I see in my yard, but my yard is fenced in so that eliminates deer, groundhogs, etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
You could take a small tomato cage or drive a stake near the plant. Drape some plastic bird netting over the stake/cage and plant. Secure it to the stake/cage with some twine, and bury the bottom edges into the soil or lay a couple rocks/sticks on the bottom edge to prevent wind from flapping it around. Should have a shroud around the plant that will keep just about anything bigger than a field mouse from reaching or nibbling on the plant.
You can get rolls of the bird netting from most garden centers for a reasonable price.

I recently did some reading for my pepper plants before the rabbits tried eating my plants. I have read on quite a few sites that placing hair (human/dog, etc.) around your borders works very well. Also, if you can find it, check with local hunting goods store....coyote or other predator urine. Soak some cotton balls with it and hang around garden. Hope this helps.ecmb wrote:Is there a way to keep rabbits away from papper plants without harming the rabbits?
