COULD IT BE Straw in the garden"TOO WET"

I have put 4 loads of Horse Manure on my garden back in April and 60% or more was straw and the other was Hourse Manue. With this much straw would it hold too much moursture in the ground and make my Pepper Plants turn Yellow or Pale Green?

What should I do if this is the case?

Think about it?

It sounds to me that the manure was too fresh for the garden. Was it composted at all? What is happening is that the straw is taking Nireogen from the soil as it breaks down. I would side dress with some nitrogen fertilizer. Your efforts at amending your soil will show up better next year. From now on if manure is not composted apply it in the fall. or put it in a pile to compost.
It's going to be tricky getting your peppers fertilized, too much nitrogen will stop them from fruiting. So go easy adding a little fertilizer at a time..

I just went out and hoed my Pepper Plants and I hit moursture in the ground 1/2 inch down. So this is telling me that the straw is holding the water in the groundvery will.

I watered my garden on July 3 or the 4th not sure and it did not rain and it was in the mid 80's last week. So the ground should have been dryed out.

I will have to agree with you on fertilizing my garden. I put 3-4-3 on it last Sunday Organic Fertilizer. I feel that this would be better than 12-12-12 at this stage of the game.

Let me hear from you on this.

I think you did just fine with the lower fertilizer values. I think your muldh is doing great for you, I try to garden mostly organic so I don't know alot about store bought fertilizer.

Could be the manure is hot and your getting a bit of a burn. Water well for a while and think about adding some iron (don't tell Opa) to green things up...
