Can I plant the tomatoes directly in the sun?

You should plant tomatoe plants directly in the sun, as far as the onions are concerned: just google tomatoes AND companion plants and several websites will come up that list what plants are companions and which are enemies. Memory serves that tomatoes and onions are fine together but, it is best to check.
