Possible Disease or Bug Problem with my Raspberries

I am hoping someone can help identify a problem I've got with my raspberries (Chilcotin) and one boysenberry plant.

I planted canes towards the end of Winter, and they have been growing fairly well. New canes have started growing from each of the old canes, however on some (about 50%) of the new branches, I notice some of the branch is damaged (or eaten away), in a semi circle kind of sore on the branch (see photos below). Shortly after the leaves from that branch fold over and wilt until dried out and die. The canes are still growing but I think it is losing growth potential with about half the branches breaking off. Initially I thought it was wind as it has been a bit windy lately, but I think it might be a disease ( or bug problem) now as not all raspberries are showing this problem (Tullameen are OK). However, the boysenberry cane also seems to be suffering as well, but to a lesser extent to the raspberries.

Any ideas on what is causing the damage to the branches would be appreciated. Also, if there is anything I can do to help prevent it?

Thanks!

Not sure how to attach photos to the post but they are here:

...I don’t recall seeing this exact damage on my own raspberries and blackberries, but it looks very similar to what I see on sunflower leafstalks, including the wilted leaves beyond the chewed damage.

If it is the same pest, I suspect treehoppers

They hop away when disturbed which maybe why you haven’t spotted them. They also “squirrel” around to the other side of the stem when you look at them or try to touch them.

You may also have leafhoppers that are bigger and capable of similar damage. Now that I think about it, I HAVE seen this one —which is the biggest leafhopper I get around here — on my raspberries:

To show these photos in-line, I had to click/tap on individual photo, then use a feature available on Chrome browser but not always on other browsers — right-click/press for menu, then use “Open Image”. Then copy the file address/link from the navigation bar (where you normally type in or paste links). I pasted the very long link which didn’t end in .jpg as images normally do, highlighted it and click/tapped on the (img) button in the full editor to place the image codes. I wasn’t sure it would work because of the multi-line link, but.... Voilà! :D

To see what I did, quote my post above and you will see the codes in your “Post a reply” editing window.

BTW, you are uploading your photos with geotags, so the photos displayed your map-location in the info — though your reference to planting at “end of Winter” was a clue as well. If you add you location — even as general as Australia — in your profile, it will be easier for other members to answer questions related to your garden.
