 Hi all..new to the forum, have been gardening a few years.. This is the first time I've seen this.. Released some ladybugs last week, was hoping maybe this is an egg.. But after googling it seems that's not it.. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Not an egg. It is a little ball of time release fertilizer that comes in the potting soil mix. Over time it takes in more water by osmosis and swells up, so is more noticeable than it was before.
