Hi FHB,

Warm welcome to the forum. Help us help you by updating your profile to include your state (or the equivalent if you live outside the US).

It appears that you are growing your pear tree in a container. A container that is MUCH too small. If you want to container grow fruit trees - even miniatures - you need at LEAST a 24" diameter pot. Preferably a 15 to 25 gallon nursery pot.

Are the rest of your plants also in containers?

What soil did you use? How long have they been planted? What are your watering and feeding practices? What are the growing conditions - sun and shade? What varieties did you plant?

Good luck

Hi,

We are located in South Wales, UK, we don't really have a watering routine as we have plenty of rain all year around, if we should have dry spells we tend to water them once a week but we don't feed them anything. Our next door neighbours use the same routine as us but their trees are much more established, the only thing they do differently is apply a lime paste at the base of the trunk.

The pictures don't show it but they are all planted in the soil (Not sure of type). They have been planted approx 2 years. We have a mix of nursey bought hybrid apple trees, and shop bought pear (beurre hardy, pyrus communis) and apple bramley....

We are novice gardeners so don't really know where to start.
