interesting idea, but I have heard that modern pennies are part zinc. It is true that copper is used as a fungicide etc, but usually in soluble form.

Afraid the article is in the unbelievable realm. Go with a copper based fungicide in soluble form and follow the directions. If I read it on the internet "it isn't necessarily true."
