Oak Trees Disease ID HELP!!!
My old oak trees came with my property, they have red blotches where there is no bark, HELP! I want to save them.
Especially my very rare sheerbark oak, which has them too. It harbors lots of animals that can only live off the sheerbark oak, and I have the only one in VA. Please help me save it.

It would be terrible to lose a rare specimen like that.
Pictures would really help.
Are the peeling bark spots down by the base or??
Are there any associated leaf symptoms? Most of the common oak diseases show also as problems with the leaves.
I would check with your local agricultural extension, maybe one of these places:

this one lists/links the different agricultural research and extension centers. I didn't know which one is closest to you
