This year seems to be the omni-presence of white fuzzies on stems, and small white moths. They don't seem to be eating much, but I could be mistaken! They are on chives, parsley, salad burnet and others. I've been just wiping the stems clean as I see or pick.

Sound familiar to anyone?

I noticed some white fuzzy spots on some of my tomato stems. I went to wipe it off and it hopped away! Weird! I've been gardening a lot of years and never seemed to notice them before. At first I thought it was a really white mealy bug...but I didn't think that was right.

I did a little research and I'm pretty certain that they are woolly aphids.

Its the nymph of a plant hopper. It is easier to get them while they are still nymphs with horticultural oil.

Apparently the nymphs of many species have fluffy tails.

Yeah, imafan, I think you're right! When I looked at your link, I wasn't sure, but mine DEFINITELY look like the 3rd pic down on this site! I was thinking they looked like little fuzzy shrimp

I've caught something similar on my tomatoes this year. I was surprised because I didn't find any like it last year. Kind of cute for a pest (probably).

Yeah, it's a pest...Mine are on my tomatoes too. First time I've ever seen them. They are cute though!

Haha, I just mean a little googling didn't tell me whether their range extended to Oregon, so what I saw might not be a pest at all. They look like some of the photos and not others. D:

Looks like them! I have some on a regular basis, but this season way more.
