What kind of hornet or wasp is this...this is not on Oklahom

This is not an Oklahoma insect...our hornets and wasp don't get this big.
And typically none of them fly around after dusk. I have never known
Oklahoma wasp and hornets to be active at night,
But these are... They send out a scout to investigate
The porch light, anyone whom may step outside, the pets, ect.
One tried to attack me twice, and luckily I had on a very loose shirt
That was oversized, which kept it from stinging me,
My son had a fly swater and gave it what for and killed it.
We now know there is a nest started in a tree next to the house.
I also had wasp spray that I sprayed at the one that attacted me, it
Might stun them for a second, but whatch out, for they will try
To attack afterwards. :?
These are larger in size than the European Hornets.
Try larger than my fathers thumb and some look hairy,
With yellow stripes on black bodies.
