can anyone identify this Grub please?

actually, I think it is a june beetle grub, it's a pretty fat little fella about an inch- inch and a half long. kind of translucent pinky grey. I had been trying to grow zucchini and bell peppers in the bed. neither of which really produced, although I did plant them in july so probably late in the season, even for so. cal. If anyonwe can tell me how to post a picture I would love to confirm what it is and if I should be worried about it. I found it while digging in the bed.

Look at the Webmaster Tips for new members. You will find instructions for posting pictures. Pictures would certainly help the forum members identify your pest.

The June Bug grubs we get are white with an orange head. They do significant damage to lawns especially St. Augustine which is the primary grass around here. Most of the time the damage is not severe but some years the beast can devastate lawn. I have had problems with them in the lawn but never in my garden. How serious is the infestation? Like just a few or a major infestation?

Ow well - found this link - don't know if it will help or not.

(note Southern Calif may have other kinds of grubs in addition to these)

Generally speaking, I don't worry about what kind it is unless there are a whole bunch in a same location I happened to dig. I just put them in the birdbath or the bird feeder.

Like the idea of tossing the beast in the bird feder. Thanks.
