Who Can Tell me What Eats My Zucchini each Year

I live in North Texas and am originally from Canada. In Canada my zucchini grew with no effort at all. In Texas there is a little bug that bores itself inside the stems and the whole plant dies over night.

What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Squash Vine Borers, or SVBs, would be my first guess. Many mid-continent and eastern continent gardeners lose their squash to this pest. :x There have been many discussions here about floating row covers, aluminum foil on plant stems, injecting [something but I don't remember what] into the stems to kill the SVBs--maybe BT?, and succession/out-of-date planting.

Just go to the index page for Organic Insect and Plant Disease Control (where this post is) and scan down the pages. You'll see the anguished message titles soon enough!
