Ants in the garden

Noticed abunch of ants in the garden the last few days. Is it ok to use regular ant killer?

Is there any type of insect spray safe to use around the plants?

Any info is much appreciated!

Yeah, unless they are fire ants or some kind of awful pest like that, ants aren't really a problem in the garden. They won't eat your plants and they help aerate the soil.

But if you really need to get rid of them, type ant control in to the Search the Forum Keyword Box and find lots of stuff written here about it.

I was cleaning up a small raised bed yesterday and noticed an alive and busy ant colony (little ants). I tried to break up and spread dirt around. Then carried a couple of pot fulls filled with ants away and scattered over another (non garden) area. This AM, little sign of ant activity. I will check again before amending, adding soil and planting, but think I busted up the colony.
