White mold on chinese elm tree trunk?

Hey everyone,

I'm seeking advice on how to handle some kind of mold that has broken out on the upper part of a chinese elm I just bought from the internet. I repotted the elm a week ago, and it's sitting indoors next to a window.

I'm not entirely sure it's a mold, and I'm not by any means an experienced gardener. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Ryan

The top one says "spittle bug" to me, but the bottom one ... the ringing pattern is ... new. So ?? I'd go with what MG said ... seeem slike a good overall start that won't hurt the tree

Thanks for your advice guys. I've been rubbing it with a qtip and a soapy solution and it's slowing going away.
