Hello!

As I was watering my garden, I noticed a couple of katydids on my tomatoes. Should I be worried? I did a little bit of reading and so far found out they can lay their eggs in the plant tissue. Now I am freaked out!

So far all I have used on my plants is diatomaceous earth which has worked beautifully because the area my patio is in has a lot of snails. However, I am guessing this won't work for katydids. Suggestions?

Some of them are predatory, thus actually eat pests. I'd keep an eye on them, but wouldn't worry too much about their eggs on your tomatoes.

Here's a pretty good link you can use to try and ID them; there are many, many different species https://entnemdept.ufl.edu/walker/buzz/katydids.htm
