Gardenia has golden dandruff.

Hello, Nice Gardeners,

I have in indoor gardenia bush that is finally looking like it's going to make it. The leaves are growing like crazy, though about 5 inches from the soil up the stem it's pretty bare; I can live with that.

The problem is the dandruff stuff on the leaves. The color covering the leaves like dandruff is golden in color, and it doesn't want to brush off. It may be white-flies, possibly. :?: When I search for what to do, I get many conflicting answers. So, I decided to come to the people who know because you helped me before..

Assuming it is white flies, how do I spray under the leaves? If someone is holding it up in the air, (it's a small plant), will the product you suggest, be dangerous to the person?

Advise, Please.

If it isn't white flies, what else might it be? Some leaves brush off easily, and some do not. I read that there is a soap that will work, but I never hear a name.

Please, if you have an answer, or even a guess, I'd love to hear from you.
