Beetle ID please...

This guy flew off my tomato plant before I could get a better shot. Good or bad? Thanks.

That looks like a Japanese beetle. In your first photo, notice the row of white tufts along the beetle's side, just below its copper colored wing covers. Those white tufts, along with two at the posterior end of the beetle, are identifying marks that differentiate Japanese beetles from similar-colored species.

In your second picture, the unique antenna tip is visible. That is also an identifying mark for Japanese beetles.
