Like Ants to the slaughter: choosy ants choose Jif

... the ants have entered my forbidden territory! Something must be done

Here we have column A - borax laced honey - and column B - borax laced peanut butter.

These ants are in a protein with a touch of icing mood.

I'll have to try that. This is that time of the year when the ants are trying to escape the wet ground outside and sometimes moves into my container plants!

Yet to see them this year but they were running up and down my fence last year. The fence by my garden. With new knowledge I come to believe they may have been farming aphids. Defintiely something to look out for this year.

I got my eye on you.

So happy to hear of a natural way to get rid of ants (they are in our compost and just starting to move into the garden). We put out the peanut butter with borax this morning - it was slow for the first couple of hours, but more and more came as the hours went by. At the moment, it's almost alarming to see how many have been lured to the stuff. I am glad that the garden is away from the house :) .

Any idea how long it takes for the ants to stop coming? Should we expect that this will be a multi-day treatment plan and refresh it each morning?

I would not put honey/sugar water/peanut butter laced with boric acid outdoors, or anywhere that children or small animals might get to it. It is not the deadliest of poisons, but it isn't exactly "non-toxic," either, as Helpful Gardener points out here:
