I just planted a few of these and they are all dying. Appears to be some kind of disease or pest but I have no idea what. I have attached a pic. If anyone know what it is or what to do please let me know.

Pest -- black flecks are grass/poop, leaves are chewed up into lace, but I can't see clearly even when zoomed in. Look closely and examine for maybe caterpillars. Pick them off or hold the plant/container sideways or upside down (don't let the soil/plant fall out) and swish in a bucket of water or hose off to start with.
