Night Blooming Cereus
Bloomed tonight. Opens in about an hour, lasts just a few hours. Very special flower. About 7 inches.
It looks like queen of the night, epiphyllum oxypetalum. These are a couple of flowers of my pitaya or dragon fruit, it is a cousin of the epiphyllum. Selenicereus undatus, the white-fleshed pitahaya. It fully opens up after dark, about 9-10 p.m. for me and closes early in the morning around 7-8 a.m. It is pollinated primarily by moths, but the bees do visit in the early morning to collect pollen.
