Hello gardeners!
First, thank you for letting to register to your forums, I am a new member.
(and relatively new gardener for that matter)

I have a ~4 yr old SanPedro Cactus, (trichocereus, I believe)
and the other day I noticed a peculiar growth on the side of my cactus.

I don't know whether this is a new little offshoot, or maybe something more sinister that should be removed.
if it were a natural offshoot, it seems odd to be that it would grow downward, but what do I know.

Attached are two pictures.

Thankyou! any advice is appreciated! :()

I use to grow San Pedro cactus when I lived in Arizona. When that cactus gets tall it starts growing arms. I never lot my cactus get tall enough to grow arms when my 50 plants were 6 ft tall I cut them all into 8" long pieces and sold them all on Ebay. I don't know how tall they grow before the plant grows arms. My cactus grew new plants out of the soil around the existing plants. 1 plant turns into 2 or 3 more plants then a year later those plants turn into 10 to 12 more plants. Keep an eye on that spot see what happens it might turn into an arm.
