Cactus markings

I need some advice re the health of my cactus. Very new to looking after cacti. This one was healthy when I got it a few months ago. One side of the plant has started to turn brown and flaky with the other completely healthy with new growth on top. Is this sun burn from where I originally positioned it in full sun? It's now placed on a semi sunny windowsill indoors? Thanks.

It could be sunburn. See what it does now that it's not in full sun.

I think it might be mites. Especially, if you haven't changed the position of the cactus in a while.
