Help identifying this cactus please?

This is my parents' cactus, my father was gifted it by his old boss, and they're really interested in finding out what exactly it is, can anyone help?

That might be a Euphorbia, and not a cactus. The difference is that with a cactus, the spines always come from an areole, but Euphorbia spines don't have to come from an areole. Euphorbia spines typically just come out from the skin, it seems. I have no idea what type of Euphorbia you have there. Also, there's a good chance the sap is poisonous. Just a heads up, if you have kids or animals around.

Looks like this thread was started by another ONE post wonder who is never coming back. Obviously not THAT interested in finding out what it is. But this appears to be the norm in many US - hosted sites - bunch of time wasters.
